Over ons

English

WOMEN Inc. has, for over seven years, created a platform for women to inspire, to share knowledge and experiences, to make their voices heard and to join forces. WOMEN Inc. aims to bring together women from various worlds, beyond and across borders: national and international, across ages, cultures and disciplines, mature and youthful, famous and unknown. We realize our aims through discussion groups, meetings, talks, open podia, networks, publications, festivals, live and digital movements, both top down and bottom up.

Vision
WOMEN Inc. believes a self-conscious image and equal participation of women will not only lead to a improved individual position, it will simultaneously stimulate society in many areas with an obvious return on investment, both economically and socially.

Mission
WOMEN Inc. is an independent platform that strives for mentality change with respect to the role and participation of women in society, so that:
1. Women learn their individual strengths and expand their opportunities;
2. Society recognizes and makes full use of the value of women

Targets
WOMEN Inc. has set five goals, crucial to developing opportunities for women. WOMEN Inc.’s movement evolves around these targets:

• Economic independence
• Women participation and upward mobility
• Making use of women’s rights
• Increased diversity of women in the picture
• Emancipation of parenthood

WOMEN Inc. Festival
In 2005, the first WOMEN Inc. Festival took place in de Beurs van Berlage in Amsterdam, with over 6000 visitors. Largly because of our modern interpretation and perception of the contemporary women’s movement as professional, targeted, vigorous, accessible, unprejudiced and self-conscious, the festival was a great success. This movement has been closely scrutinised and followed by young and foreign women.

IN the years after WOMEN Inc. booked further lasting success by organising several editions of the Festival, with an impressive line-up of guests, including the Dutch Royal Princess Maxima, French presidential candidate Ségolène Royal, Dutch vice-prime minister Wouter Bos, SER (Social Economic Counsel) President Alexander Rinnooy Kan, President of the Board of Directors of Unilever, Morris Tabaksblatt, European Commissioner Neelie Kroes, and many others. Moreover, the Festivals led to a lot of publicity and media attention.

Montly Talkshows
WOMEN Inc. sets the agenda on social issues concerning women in monthly Talkshows. These evenings are focussed on current affairs and linked to our five main targets. These evenings attract hundreds of women and men, and have become the hotspot for among others politicians, policy makers, and journalists who are exposed to new voices and as a result, include them in their work. Through these meetings, WOMEN Inc. hopes to further develop the potential of women on every level. WOMEN Inc. activities lead to increasing exposure in Dutch media. Some headlines: Minister Emancipation Plasterk: ‘WOMEN Inc. has an added value’. (Telegraaf 2008), ‘WOMEN Inc. invigorates feminist debates.’ (Trouw 2007)

‘New Girls Network’
WOMEN Inc. creates networks especially for women. Giving the ‘old boys networks’ a twist, WOMEN Inc has implemented the ‘New Girls Network’. This network has a digital exponent. In an online community, WOMEN Inc. brings together women from all different backgrounds and offers them a place to meet each other in order to exchange knowledge and experience, participate in discussions and write and publish articles. Apparently, it meets a need seeing that approximately 700 women have set
up a profile since the inception of the online community in march 2009, more than 10.000 women receive the WOMEN Inc. digital newsletter and thousands of women attend the ‘live’ meetings.

WOMEN Inc. Agency
Finally, WOMEN Inc. has a speakers agency; the WOMEN Inc. Agency, which is a database consisting of over 200 top-women. They are available on request for functions such as day-chair, speaker, moderator or journalist. By doing this, the Agency provides a fitting and very practical answer to the observed lack of women in the media, parliament and business life. The Agency has increased the visibility of interesting and prominent women in the Netherlands.
